Commonwealth Chiropractic - Meet The Staff

Dr. Asher Leeder, D.C Dr. Asher Leeder I am a native Bostonian, and spent my college years at Yeshiva College in New York. By the time I was 25, I had obtained my Rabbinical Ordination, my Masters Degree in Education and my First Degree Black Belt in Karate. At that point, I was looking for a career in the health care field which would integrate all the aspects of my education and abilities. After meeting with chiropractors in the New York area, visiting their offices and speaking with their patients, I became convinced that chiropractic, a natural, drugless approach to health, was the perfect field which would unify my various interests and abilities. Happily, I was right on the mark. I have been practicing chiropractic since 1980. For the first two years of practice, I was the only chiropractic professional at the Mountainview Medical Associates, a holistic health center in New York with a staff of over 50. It was there that I experienced the integration of many approaches to health care, including both conventional and complementary medicine. It was there that I also learned the value of an eclectic and varied approach to chiropractic treatment, and have since taken many post-graduate courses to round out my technique. As a result, I am able to provide each patient as an individual the type of chiropractic treatment he or she needs, calling on my arsenal of techniques and my extensive experience. When I decided to return to my roots in Massachusetts, I founded Commonwealth Chiropractic in 1982, and have been serving the Greater Boston community ever since then. My goals at Commonwealth Chiropractic are to bring the benefits of chiropractic care to the greatest number of people possible, since I have seen first-hand how chiropractic care benefits a wide range of conditions and improves the lives of those under its care.

Shira Keller, Financial Officer

I am a native of Providence, Rhode Island, having moved to the New York area for high school and college. I majored in Biology and Music at New York University and, after graduation, worked at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center doing research in a biochemistry lab. When I gave birth to my first child, I left the lab and worked as a part-time teacher in the New York City Public School system, and in the local Jewish after school program. When my children began school, I took on part-time teaching at SAR Academy in Riverdale, where I taught for 9 years. By that time, I had 4 children, all of whom were in school. When I first came to the Boston area, I continued my teaching career at the Maimonides School in Brookline. In 1985 I changed careers, at first working part time at Commonwealth Chiropractic in the billing department. I have since been promoted to Financial Officer, and am involved in all aspects of the billing and correspondence with attorneys and insurance companies, a very consuming activity. When I am not doing the financial work at Commonwealth Chiropractic, I am involved with my 5 children and their children, an equally consuming activity. My goals at Commonwealth Chiropractic are to see to it that our patients receive all the health benefits that Commonwealth Chiropractic has to offer without the stress that may come with claims to their insurance carriers, and to ease the way for our patients within the health insurance system.

Carina Wine, Office Manager

I am a not-so-recent transplant from Oahu, Hawaii, when I moved to the North East to attend Boston University. After school I still had a love for all things New England- pretty snow, chowda, and Boston's rich history- and so decided to stay. I now live in Boston with my two parrots and approximately three tons of books. I have been the Office Manager for the Boston Office since 1998, and work to keep all people and things running smoothly. My favorite part of working at Commonwealth Chiropractic is being able to spend the day with such terrific patients and co-workers.

Dr. Leah Leeder Dr. Leah Leeder I have always gotten satisfaction knowing that I have the opportunity to help people, to make a difference in their lives. After majoring in political science and working in politics, I realized that I needed to find another avenue. I graduated with honors from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC, Toronto) in 1997, following a year and a half internship, including six amazing months working with the Ojibwe Nation. After briefly working at Commonwealth Chiropractic in Boston with my father, I moved to Israel, where I established a private practice in Jerusalem. Recently I had the honor of working with athletes of olympic calibre, at the 2005 Israeli Maccabiah.

In my treatments, I focus on prevention, and approach any patient, of any and all ages, as a whole person, with both physical and emotional stressors. Chiropractic subluxation, lifestyle and nutrition are all examined, to help the patient take responsibility for their body and for the choices they make, in order to express 100% of their human potential.

When not working, I enjoy martial arts, photography and drawing, scuba diving, and reading. I get lots of love from my two cats, Harry and Sarel.
